The changes to Glide Live Reporting allow editorial and product teams to:
As previously, the full collaborative Live Reporting toolset is available to all Glide CMS users in our standard license, removing the extra cost and integration problems of secondary live blogging platforms. Developers and users can thus build and manage live blog reports without having to duplicate content creation and production workflows or system integrations, or embark on new contracts and support agreements.
Alongside the new commerce- and audience-centric upgrades are a host of other improvements for admins and users, including:
Live Reports by type
The latest updates to Glide Live Reporting makes it easier to create new live blog themes and experiences enforcing completely different data or revenue models to suit editorial or business use cases.
Glide CPO Rich Fairbairn said: "Sites running live reports successfully will want different formats and styles to suit varying topics and business cases.
"Setting aside the content itself, from a look and feel perspective a sports report with scores data to free readers would be very different to a subscribers-only report on a crucial company AGM carrying live share prices. A splash breaking news report will be different to a slow-burn reveal on a specific topic deep in a site or app. And they will all present massively different revenue models to commercial teams dealing with ads or affiliates or syndication.
"Before you would make those changes at the front-end, but that asks a lot of developers and editors managing reports. Now, you can prebuild all those business decisions inside the platform and select them in seconds in a pre-configured report type, and launch it with its own tailored look and feel and features, including where it goes and who sees it."
New capabilities per post
Additionally, publishers can now bring similar audience and commercial flexibility to a post level, so even an individual post could feature unique capability or revenue potential within a report.
Fairbairn added: "The same sort of things you'd do with an article can be done to a post, like marking it to go to a specific audience type or specific channel such as audio, perhaps excluding it from wrap-up summaries or 'free' versions, or adding its own affiliate code or revenue stream. Say you want to run a report in a second language, and only include certain posts - that would be straightforward."
GAIA meets Live Reports
The benefit of having Live Reporting as a core feature of the main CMS is evident in the ability of Live Report teams to now use GAIA, Glide's safe AI toolset for publishers and media teams.
Live blogs and event reports can now leverage native AI tools to speed production and publication, including report headlines, post headlines, and post-event wrap-ups and summaries. As with all GAIA AI features, it protects your IP, gives choice of LLMs, and allows protective Guardrails to cover exactly how it's used and by whom.
Admin made easier
Existing users will benefit from a wide range of obvious and not-so obvious quality of life improvements to Glide Live Reporting, with more granular controls on user toolbar preferences, better management by admins of locked posts, and a host of tweaks and optimisations which smooth the process of running and contributing to live blog content.
Fairbairn explained: "Live event coverage is where publishers and media can really amp up their authority and voice in specific topics and of course at times of breaking news.
"At those moments time is crucial so anything which lets you get reports up quicker and with much more of the 'crafting' developers used to do is great news. It's quicker for editorial teams and gives them more power, and now commercial teams can really start to build whole new strategies to suit where their content teams are winning the fight for attention."
Customers will see the new features and updates in the next release along with other regular Glide updates detailed in their release notes.
