New HELLO! surges to immediate growth on Glide

Published: 13 April 2023

The new HelloMagazine.com website launched on Glide Publishing Platform and immediately delivered improved results

Glide Publishing Platform customer and global magazine icon HELLO! revealed immediate gains across key metrics following the relaunch of its all-new website.

In its announcement revealing the launch of the new site, HELLO! revealed a dramatic rise of 40% in Click Through Rates for commercial partners, improved viewability of 10%, and lightning fast 50% quicker page loading speed – all in the first week of the new site’s operation.

The new HELLO! site places Glide Publishing Platform at its core, with a fresh new design built with the end user in mind as a mobile-first platform, modern atomic design principles and a clean, spacious feel.

The project has been masterminded by Head of Digital Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon, and Chief Technical Officer Andy Macharg, yielding a flexible and responsive design which allows site updates to be deployed quickly to respond to breaking news and site wide changes, and allow tailored content to be delivered based on HELLO’s audience geography, differentiating between UK, US, and Canadian content.

Vokes-Dudgeon explained: “This relaunch is the start of the next era for Hellomagazine.com. The enduring appeal of our content, paired with ongoing campaign work that resonates incredibly well with our audience is now underpinned by our investment in a dynamic and responsive site which guarantees a bright and positive future for the HELLO! brand.”

Glide Professional Services assisted HELLO! with the task of rejuvenating and migrating legacy content to the new CMS, to better open up existing articles and features to new audiences.

“The challenge of migrating HELLO! to a new technical platform is no small task,” explains Macharg. “For the past 12 months, we have been evaluating, learning, and documenting the current site with the goal of improving site performance and UX.

“More than 150,000 articles and 900,000 images have successfully been migrated. Over the coming months, we will continue to release new features to enhance the audience experience.”

Glide CEO Denis Haman commented: “Working with the HELLO! team has given insight into why the brand is one of the best-known in publishing. They have a relentless focus on improving the reader experience, and improving their product and relevance in one of the most competitive areas of publishing there is.

“We have been proud to be a partner throughout the rebuild of this iconic magazine brand. We had no doubts the new site would hit the ground running in such stunning fashion, which is a testament to the great job the HELLO! technology, editorial, product, and commercial teams have done. This is just the start for the HELLO! and HOLA! brands and we're excited to see what they can do next."

About HELLO!

HELLO! was launched in 1988 by publisher Eduardo Sanchez Junco, owner and chairman of Spain’s ¡Hola! Magazine. The HELLO! UK business has been a weekly magazine and digital destination since 1988, a household name recognised for its exclusive celebrity access, accurate and positive reporting, as well as beautiful picture-led features and award-winning publishing philosophy of kindness.

As one of the first magazine brands to launch online, HELLO! celebrates 35 years as an iconic UK title, whose popularity has survived and thrived, operating as a 360-brand offering across its original print iteration – posting marketing leading readership in its category in the latest ABC results, web and social channels.

With an average 46 million engaged and returning global customers online, Hellomagazine.com has expanded its appeal from the heartland UK to an engaged and growing audience in North America, benefiting from a local publishing team, appointed in 2022.
